Course Description

Restorative procedures require sound periodontal support for long term success. Surgical crown lengthening is often required in order to achieve these restorative goals. This concise, didactic and hands on course will provide you with the practical knowledge necessary in order to perform surgical crown lengthening procedures in your office. 

The following topics will be covered:
- Gingival anatomy and histology

- Incisions and flap designs

- Sutures and suturing techniques

- Surgical crown lengthening procedure

- Post-operative care and complications

Following the lecture portion of the course a hands on portion utilizing pig jaws will allow you to practice what you have learned.
- Hands-on flap design

- Hands on hard
- Soft tissue modification
- Hands-on suturing

At the end of the course you should be able to:
- Adequately assess a patient prior to surgery

- Determine the periodontal prognosis of a tooth

- Plan and execute a crown lengthening procedure
